Happy November and welcome to Scorpio season - my favorite time of year. There is a certain buzz of creativity that happens in Scorpio Season whether its Open Studios in SF; Harvest in Napa Valley; Dia de los Muertos in Mexico; or too many pumpkin spice lattes. I get inspired by Fall and by my amazing clients who have so much going on this month. Please see what they've been up to below and come out to support them. See you there! Nos vemos allí!
Oscar Aguilar Olea is an expressionist figurative painter, sculptor, and print maker from Guanajuato, Mexico. His signature techniques include using different types of egg tempera paints, painting on oversized burlap canvas, and making paints and charcoals from organic materials grown in the Napa Valley. Napa artist Nancy Willis leads artists to Paris on her annual painting tours to France. Throughout the years, she has tuned in to the ebb and flow of street scenes, watching and recording the light and life of café culture. But after the terrorist attacks in 2015, she felt achingly distant from the familiar rituals of Parisian life. This series of paintings and prints is Willis’ way to reconnect and honor the resilience of Paris and its people.
Like the rest of the world, Paris faces a new reality of heightened awareness and vulnerability and it becomes imperative to savor each moment. Nancy Willis has captured a quintessential picture of modern Paris as an act of resistance. She states, “By painting the verve and vital essence of Paris café culture, I am championing the courage to live our everyday lives and not to succumb to fear.”
