The 4,000 square foot wall adjacent to the hotel courtyard will become a giant portrait gallery, lit at night and highly visible from the hotel room windows. Patrons can commission portraits of themselves, loved ones or a public figure they admire. Portraits created by local artists will be scanned, enlarged and printed on Dibond Aluminum up to 4’x6’ and installed in a mosaic pattern. The patrons will keep the original artworks and a website will document the artists’ names and the portrait subjects.

Approximately 25 artists will be selected to participate. Samples of their works will be listed on a website linked to the B Street Theatre fundraising page. Patrons will select the artist they wish to work with. Artists may work from photographs or live model sessions.

Compensation:

Artists will be paid a standard commission stipend of $1,000 per portrait. Portraits must be created in a 2:3 ratio i.e. 16 x 24 or 24 x 36 (larger sizes negotiable). Portraits will need to be completed within 3-4 weeks of the commission. Artist must provide their own materials and transportation.

 Qualifications:

Open to artists 18 or older working in 2D flat media – paintings, drawings, prints and photography (works with thick texture cannot be scanned for enlargement).

Artists must live within reasonable driving distance to Sacramento, CA in order to meet with subjects and/or deliver finished portraits. Artists living or working on Sacramento will be highlighted on the website.

In order to participate, artists must have an up-to-date website with at least 5 samples of portraits posted (Instagram is allowed if full images are visible/not cropped).

Artists must be able to complete a portrait within 3-4 weeks after receiving subject’s photo or meeting with subject in person.
